A few youngsters have been setting sailing records lately. First Zac Sunderland - one of “less than a handful of people” to solo circumnavigate the globe. How many people fit in a handful? Whatever it is, add another. Mike Perham just completed his world voyage – now the official youngest. As the fog of fatty foods, late nights and rum fades away from my brain, I realize that the end of the holidays has arrived and it’s time to get back to sailing. With all the parties, shopping and visitors these past two weeks, I’ve barely found enough time to hose the bird duke off Mariola, let alone get her out of the slip - but now it’s over! I’m ready to start the big teak varnish job, whip up some more cartoons, get more posts from guest authors and a few other surprises (really) that will help make 2009 the best sailing year yet. So here’s to a happy new year.
