I understand when something just lets loose and breaks - but when I "fix" something and it acts up, that drives me nuts. At least I'm not alone in this world.

I'm starting to think the challenge of sailing is keeping the boat going!

Isn't it a beauty when a usually 100% reliable motor decides to take a holiday right when you really need it the most? Happened to me recently on a very stormy passage through Delaware Bay.

I later determined that it was vapor lock in the fuel line, because I decided to run off of a half-empty fuel tank rather than using the full one. The roll/pitch of the boat sloshed the gasoline so much that the pickup sucked in air and the brand new Honda went to sleep.

It was too rough for me to troubleshoot but the fact that it was blowing at about 30kts made sailing VERY possible. SO we made the whole passage under Genoa alone. Once back inside, naturally, the motor started right up.

BTW - I envy your visit to Longboat. I honeymooned there in '91 at the Hilton.

Fair winds!
