Zooman and Stinkbait Sail to Key West

by PyratCapn on January 16, 2009

Stinkbait at his previous occupation.Stinkbait is raring to go.

PyratSail is everyday folks undertaking everyday sailing adventures. We have two new PyratSailors aboard that may not qualify as “everyday” and I can almost guarantee their planned trip to Key West this month on a 26′ MacGregor will be extraordinary. Zooman and Stinkbait navigated their way to PyratSail’s forum via the Sailmonster social network and have been a great source of fun and conversation in our forum.  Z & S said they will try and post updates and pictures along the way wherever they have electricity and a Wi-Fi connection. We’re with you fellas!

Follow their voyage in the forum here.

Ken will make it to Key West; Steve will if Ken can keep him from falling off the boat and being lost at sea. Seriously, folks. Bonnie

Love you guys.

Argggggggg to both you pirate puppies who are preparing to go on this crazy adventure with no experience but the balls and the love of the pirates to get you through to the beautiful Key West, Florida. I will continue to keep in touch with you pirates for we need to know where you are so I can sail in a different direction….just kidding but seriosly since I am a vixen pirate I must warn you when you sail into port for your overnight stay beware of any winches who might want to stow away. Make sure all your supplies are stowed away safely and your rum is at hand for any shark sightings.
P.S. Who is going to swab your deck before your departure.
Sail Away …..yours truly

To my Uncle Stinkbait. I am scared you forgot to take your rope and your harness belt we gave you for Christmas. My mom let out all the length at the waist so it will now fit around your big fat belly. Nana fixed some of your favorite red beans and rice. You always said it made your tounge want to slap your brains out. Yummy! I noticed you took your supply of shark repellent…Capt. Morgans spiced rum. I asked mom what you had to do to use it to protect from the sharks. She was confused. I then said do you pour it into the ocean around the boat or do you pour it on the boat for sharks to repel from your presence. She started laughing and said that old Capt. Stinkbait. (my crazy bro) …she then replied Little Miss Magic that is Alcohol Abuse. So now I know to take you with a grain of salt you silly stink bait…Uncle Kenny You Stanker….I will get you back as soon as you safely return from your awesome adventure. Take care of the dolphins and the mother ocean.

It should be an interesting cruise for the 2 of you. As I have spent much time with both of you guys I am not sure who will fare better on this trip. Steve, if you can stay on the boat I will be amazed as I think our best bet is to get a betting pool going to see who can guess closest to the number of times you fall into the water on this great adventure. Ken on the other hand, will accomplish something if he can keep all supplies from falling overbaord. As I remember in one of our adventures the generator (newly bought and paid for) went right into the water with one wave. Keep in mind that your kids love you and will be awaiting your return. As for me, I wish you both the best of luck and I love ya!

bless your little ole pea pickin heart,o little neice of mine.( of only 12 years of age) in fact shes the one who showed me how to work this blog…. and she set me up with a my space page ( by the way im still gettin used to that..thanks sammy. and be good to yo mamma my neice sure is smart when it comes to these puters. as for me i know two things really well…… number one….8 tracks,,,I love 8 tracks for instance, did you know that when your 8 track player eats the tape? well, if your really careful, you can pry the casset apart and splice it together with scotch tape. then, press it back together and secure it with duct tape. it works, heck, it happened to my cassette of conway twittys,(happy birthday darlin) but i still have it to this day…..second,,,duct tape… please refer to number one …. as for my son ..I love you too and dont worry about steve (zooman) daddy stinkbait will take care of him….he usually only falls off stationary objects anyway..i.e docks, piers , bridges, the curb, bicycles, the wagon, …..you know ..stuff like that.. well ,with the pitching and the rolling of the boat im sure he will be able to finally walk a straight line…zooman ( steve) must have been born for the sea, and im proud to go with him Love ya T man….daddy stinkbait

Capt. Stinkbait,
I am so happy you get to live your dream and sail to the islands.
Please take Rumheads advice about the harness and line serious and wear at all times when the boat is in the water traveling. Oceanside California where I live we had a tragic accident where a commercial fisherman and his fiance was out on a day trip. He had just spoken with his dad and was looking forward to return to go on a fishing trip with his dad. They never returned and the boat was found washed up on the shore of Mexico with all thier belongings untouched and autopilot on, all the gas had ran out and the railing on the side was bent as though one fell overboard. Neither one was ever found at sea and not exactly sure but is said that one might have tried to help the other but once out of the boat, and auto pilot continued on no one could be saved for no one can outswim the boat on autopilot. So pllleeeaase invest in a harness instead of a movie camera for I can always see the story of your adventure through your stories. If anything happened and you did not return my life any many others would not be rich with your witty humor and your crazy antics and your stanky self. Just kidding we know the stanky smell was the stanky sharks. Better get the rum on that one. Ain’t that right Rumhead. Thanks for all the advice you have given to my brother (stinkbait) and his crew member zooman. Thank you also for this forum you have provided for wanna be sailors and pirates like me. I have throughly enjoyed reading and learning and sharing.
Question for Rumhead????????????? AS CAPT. JACK SPARROW ALWAYS ASKS:
WHY IS THE RUM ALWAYS GONE????????
A TOAST TO YOU AND YOURS AND TO THE GREAT FORUM YOU HAVE PROVIDED!
HAPPY SAILS, RESPECTFULLY VIXEN PIRATE GIRL (Capt.Stinkbaits sis)

about two weeks after the walker bay incident i had passed zooman on the floating dock and it appeared to me that he had been in a horrific automobile acident! from 50 yards away i noticed a large abraided contusion on the port side of his crainium , at twenty yards the omg factor kicked in, as i noticed a dozen or so abraisions peppering the entire port side of his torso, now. wide eyed and drop jawed i asked what had happened? were you in a car accident i exclaimed? in the most cavalier way that only the zooman could pull off, nah,(he replied) i just fell of my bike. THAT MY FREIND IS PYRATITUDE!!!!and also why im lookin forward to this trip. Things just seem to happen around the zoo respectfully capt stinkbait

regarding, overboard…we must ask the zooman to share with us the story about when he bought his beautiful 32 ft endeavor and sailed it into the hudson chanel in the middle of the night…..though i never fail to retell that story at every family gathering, parties, thanksgiving etc…. he must be the one to tell it its the funniest thing ive ever heard.i wont spoil it but it involves his boat, the lovely bonnie sue, a dinghy and a dog named freebie back to you zoo respectfully capt stinkbait

hey zoo, see if you cant put a little pressure on the dinghy dude, hes holdin us up we got a great weather window things could not be more perfect we must leave post haste before all the rum is gone really by tommorow i anticipate an extreeme deficite of rum this delay would not have happened if you still had your pyrat beard(it was quite intimidating) anyway see what you can do utill then the adventure awaits respectfully Capt stinkbait

I see capt john (horizons edge) has joined the site, good to hear from you The first time i ever set foot on a sailboat was hoizons edge. i was hooked so i saved my money and bought the first boat i came across (phedra) 25 ft macgreggor 2500 lbs displacement 1985 that was about 3 years ago i dont know what the name of my boat means and i intended to change it, however, acording to capt john their is some ritual that must be done before that is compleated and i forgot… i bought the boat in in pannama city fl and trailored it to hudson fl where it stayed for about a year and a half i sailed it to anclote key about every weekend the water is beautiful there as john says (its the north edge of paridise) take care on the road capt john,(scruffy) and try to stay close to the water respectfully, capt ken,(stinkbait)

To my understanding you are about to set sail. For those of you who do not know, I am Stinkbaits ex wife but still best friend. I hope this trip is the experience of a lifetime that I have heard about for so many years. From my past endevers with the Captains I have a few pieces of advice:
1) Captain Zooman, hide the rum for once the seal is broken the party is not over until Ken finds the bottom. Get there first, then find the bottom
2) Caiptain Stinkbait, tie everything down and everyone. Between the 2 of you it is just a matter of time before something or someone goes over
3) Zooman, if you have to jump in to save anything, check the depth of the water. You may be able to stand (now theres a story he can explain)
4) Stinkbait, your dream is about to begin and although the kids and I are not there with you (thank goodness, as I have sailed with you many times lol) we wish you all the luck and hope you find it to be everything you expect
5) Last but not least, Steve and Ken be careful. don’t take any short cuts and if you find yourself stuck on a rock; as Ken has on one occassion, pop the top, have a couple of drinks, and remember the tide will rise sooner or later.

Take care and be safe.

Hope you guys are OK. I just saw the Weather Channel forecast for the southwest FL coast and it showed a major storm affecting the areas of Key West & north. They specifically mentioned hazardous conditions for small craft. Keep your heads down & eyes to the sky mates.

The US Coast Guard District 7 called Ken Temples. He reported the vessel is in non-distress. The US Coast Guard has stopped all searches at this time.
