I must say, I am a Sailor Jerry fan. Great taste, and smooth over nice. It does pack a whallop though. The Mount Gay, is a great mixing rum, the flavor almost totally disappears when mixed.

I am just glad that Sailor Jerry has not reached the point of being trendy. It's tough to find a bottle at a restaurant or bar. But my boat never leaves the dock without at least a small bottle.

I like packing Sailor Jerry for trips because it's concentrated - more rum in less space. I'll look for the flavoured Cruzan. Thanks!

Sailor Jerry is a good strong rum. I also stumbled across Cruzan Rum that is flavored. Black Cherry and diet is super.

I bought some Mount Gay once and it didn't strike my fancy. Same with Appleton. I know they are both staples in the rum world, but tasted a little bit like whiskey to me. My buds may be out of alignment though. I'm going to get back on the "rum tasting track" and see what I discover. I'll give Mount Gay another try. Thanks!

10 Cane is awsome. Davis Islands Yacht Club has a rum tasting event every year, and 10 Cane is allways at or near the top.

You can't have a sailing and rum oriented blog without giving a shout out to Mount Gay. They are hugely supportive of sailing worldwide, and it's not bad rum!
