Words fail me. I’m trying to gather myself to come up with a rant that will be ground zero for an all out powerboat war – and I can’t. Words, and now Hunter fail me. Hunter Marine, the innovators of chincy, the starter boat clorox bottle company, just came out with this – this hideous bastardization of powerboat meets fugly-ass-sailboat-that’s-only-seen-in-sailor’s-nightmares. It’s called theEdge (lowercase “the”) as in: They should be pushed off it”. HOW COULD THEY? Is there a market for this? The tool that buys this p.o.s. is going to be the same powerboat idiot that has to pass within ten yards of me at full speed. But now he thinks he’s a sailor so it’s o.k. – and all the while dragging some jackass on a wakeboard. Sailors and powerboaters ARE NOT cut from the same cloth Hunter! Do you even understand sailing? I’m embarrased for you and anybody that buys this abortion.
Oh God No….

I have sailed (If you want to call it that) this hybrid. We got a chance to try one out at our marina in Orlando last summer. It’s a fine power boat and it only takes about 5 minutes to switch it over to sail but BOY is it ever a stiff sailor. A little wind started across the beam and I thought hey a good chance to try her out so I pulled in the sheet and let her heel over. She literly broke over the chines like falling over a hill. she did catch herself after she got over about 10 degree’s but it really jars you when she goes through the break. Suffice to say my wife who is used to our gentle little Com-paq looked at me and said it’s time to go home. I couldn’t argue with that statement. I tend to lean toward soft chined boats and the Hunter is not. So much for my boat review.
That’s some interesting insight. I just have to believe the two worlds of powerboating and sailing can never be succesfully combined.
Thanks!
